Selamat Datang Indonesia, Sulawesi

Sulawesi, formerly known as Celebes, is an island with sprawling arms, of which I only explored a tiny part in the ten days of travel I had left. Makassar is not only a large city, but also the name of an ethnic group renowned throughout island Asia for its boat-building.

I wanted to visit the Toraja country, famous for the boat-shaped houses and the unusual death cult.
After a 10 hours coach trip I get to Rantepao in the Toraja country

Selamat Datang Indonesia, Bali

My trip took me to Bali, where I spent a week in Ubud, in the center of the island, without even going to the coast to see the famous beaches.

Selamat Datang Indonesia, Java

On June 8th I landed in Jakarta for a five weeks trip to Indonesia.
After a short stay in the busy and noisy capital I travelled to Jogjakarta in Central Java. The city is very famous for the craftwork and two outstanding hindu and budhist temples from the VIIIth century.
